Approximately 4 weeks ago, the organization I'm working for, hired this catering company for our annual dinner event. The dinner consisted of 3 meals (one first course (lime risotto with vegan croquette), the main course, and the desert). As I am allergic to sesame seeds, I got hesitant when I read that the 1st course had a vegan croquette. Given that I didn't manage to communicate that to my managers, I went directly and asked a waitor to either explain to me the dishes or to speak with the chef or someone responsible for the kitchen. The waiter went inside the kitchen and after 2 minutes the chef came out (I suppose, as he never told me if he's the chef or not). As I'm not speaking French, a colleague of mine asked in French whether any of the menu courses contained sesame, humus, or tahini. The person was also holding at his hand the 1st course and a lady across him, the main course, so I also showed him the courses, and he confirmed to us that there was no sesame in the menu. Unfortunately, with the first bite from the first course, I realized that something was wrong. Immediately, I took my pills, but since the allergy reaction was strong I had to go the hospital.
In situations like this, professionals are called to be professionals and not to risk a customer's life like that. It is my belief that it is unacceptable for anyone working in the gastronomy to not have the basic knowledge of their ingredients and risk their customer's lives. For everyone that knows, anaphylaxis, is really dangerous and every second matters. Even when they got notified from my work that this happened, no one called me or tried to reach out to me. Totally inhuman, and unprofessional behavior. I would never suggest them to anyone and I hope my review explained the reason why.
I would like to add here, before the courses, waiters were serving small appetizers to everyone. Unfortunately, not all of them knew the exact ingredients of each one, which is again extremely dangerous for people with dietary restrictions!!!
