Food good, to even very good. Went for an impromptu dinner and was both a bit annoyed and impressed. Dont go to Kavala if you are very hungry and are in a hurry.. DON'T!! You need patience, a lot of it..
But, the wait turned out worth the wait, in our case anyway. Food was very tasty and decent sized portions at a decent price.
We were offered some cold 'hapjes' when we arrived, some olives and anchovies. This was later followed by a small bowl of vegetable soup. Soup was very tasty indeed. For starters we had some calamari and Greek cheese filled pastries (TIROPITAKIA). Calamari ok, pastries very good. Must admit, the sauce that came with the calamari was also very tasty.
For mains we had some Moussaka, made with layers of potato with some eggplant in between. I personally prefer layered eggplant but that is my personal taste. All in all the dish was very good and was a decent portion with my not even able to finish it.
After the hearty portions we decided to skip dessert.
We ordered some champagne but it was a 'sweet' champagne and unfortunately not cooled enough. A fair wine selection is available but only Greek wines. We did have the "APERITIEF APHRODITE" and we both agreed that it was very good indeed.
One thing I have to mention. It was fairly busy and on a Sunday evening but I have to admit, the staff could have been a bit more friendly.
Will we go again? Maybe, but not in a hurry.
